Waveform Network is a provider of high speed broadband internet access through a fixed wireless network. We use the Motorola Canopy platform. The Canopy platform is continually earning a reputation as one of the world's most successful broadband solutions.
What is tsunami Speed Boost
Speed Boost is a unique technology that means faster internet service for everyone. With Speed Boost your internet connection will download and browse the internet at speeds up to 3.3mbps which is 6 times faster than the 512kbps plan. Once you have exeeded the boost allocation your connection will return back to your subscribed speed until your boost allocation fills back up.
What is fixed wireless internet?
It is not DSL, it is not cable, and it is not satellite. Fixed wireless internet is high speed internet that transfers data via microwave radio waves between one of our Access Point towers and a small, unobtrusive antenna that is installed on your home/business.
How does Waveform's wireless broadband compare to DSL?
We offer speeds as fast (or faster) than DSL, our wireless service is an alternative to DSL. The main difference is instead of using outdated copper phone lines, we deliver our connection wirelessly via radio waves.
How does Waveform's wireless broadband compare to Satellite?
Wireless broadband is sometimes confused with Satellite because they are both forms of wireless communication. The main difference is that wireless broadband uses short range links compared to the approximately 23,000 mile links used by Satellite. The long links of Satellite cause long delays, this latency causes poor performance regardless of bandwidth speed. Because of the short links of wireless broadband, performance remains high.
Does the weather have any effect on your network?
No, rain, snow, and fog are not significant enough to interfere with the radio frequencies used by our network.
What is involved in the installation?
A small antenna is mounted near or on the roof of your home or business. A CAT 5 cable is then ran from the antenna into your home or business. A cable jack and box are installed inside your house. A surge suppressor and grounding is included to protect the customer's equipment from lightning or static discharges. Once inside the house an Ethernet cable is then ran from the CAT 5 jack directly to the customer's computer or to a router. A router is recommended as it acts as a firewall to protect the customer's home network from Internet attackers. A router also allows the customer to build their own network inside their home. Routers can be purchased from Waveform Network.
For customers within a couple miles of one of our Access Point towers, an inside antenna maybe used. The antenna power plugs into an outlet inside the home and an Ethernet cable is then ran either directly to the customer's computer or to a router.
What is the typical lead time to have your service installed?
We can generally have our service installed in your home or business and working within a couple of days.
